Homeownership

During the current economic downturn, it has become increasingly more difficult for households with limited incomes to afford a decent place to live. Utah Housing Corporation works continually to create innovative affordable housing programs to help hard-working, low-and moderate-income Utah households achieve their dream of purchasing a home of their own.

These housing-purchase programs make a significant difference in the lives of thousands of Utah families. Owning a home provides Utahns with greater stability, an improved sense of community, and the hope of economic advantages for the future. Our communities also benefit as schools, neighborhoods, churches and businesses all are strengthened.

Homeownership Programs

Utah Housing Corporation's "FirstHome" mortgage program is geared towards families of modest income who are first time homebuyers. This program offers competitive interest rates that keep the monthly house payments affordable, allowing families with smaller incomes to purchase a home.

UHC's "FirstHome Plus" program features all of the same benefits of the FirstHome program, with the added benefit of a second mortgage for down payment and closing costs. This program is for borrowers who have not been able to save enough money for down payment and closing costs. FirstHome Plus provides an additional option to limited income working families.

In 2011, UHC raised over $270 million for affordable housing and assisted over 1,700 lower-income households across Utah in buying a home of their own.
